Gather Table

Interior Design by TE-EL
Photographed by Studio Periphery

The Gather Table is a collaboration between TE-EL and a Singaporean self taught carpenter, Jonathan from Maker and Wolves. Inspired by the daily ritual in a domestic setting, where its inhabitants gather and sits around in the living spaces.

Kept to a primary form with a recessed base, the low table is scaled to allow one to sit all round. Along with a braided wool rug, this combination creates a comfortable setting for a casual dining/conversation.

To accentuate the grain, the wood was charred and hand wire brushed multiple times. This process gives a silvery purple undertone to the wood, and at the same time, the carbonisation improve its durability agains water and stains. The result is a extremely tactile surface that is soft and pleasing to touch.
