Balmoral Apartment

Interior Design by TE-EL

Set in the central region of Singapore. The apartment overlooks Goodwood Hill, a 20-hectare tree conservation area that is dotted with black & white bungalows that were built by the earlier colonial government. The uninterrupted greenery provides the adjacent buildings with a sense of quietness and privacy that is unlike many parts of Singapore. Building onto Goodwood Hill’s serenity. We pared down the interior spaces to create a calm refuge for the couple to retreat from their busy lives.

Natural materials such as oak, stones and lime plaster play a vital role in this project. Its humble and organic qualities imbue the spaces with a sense of calmness and tranquillity, echoing the exterior sight. In deference to the colonial houses, the accent material such as rattan and dark woods were also layered carefully upon the quiet palette.
